"A Functional Approach To Managing Stress"

Dr. Weston at RTRX 2024

Our very own Marguerite Weston, MD, took center stage at this year’s TRX event, delivering an impactful Masterclass seminar titled “A Functional Approach to Managing Stress.” She provided an enlightening perspective on how stress affects our overall well-being and how understanding the root causes — particularly hormones — can help us navigate stress more effectively to achieve optimal performance.

Watch The Highlights

Hormones Can Hold Us Back — Or Push Us Forward

Dr. Weston emphasized the interconnectedness of our body’s systems, explaining that hormonal imbalances can often hold us back, but they can also be key to helping us feel and perform our best.

“We often hear patients come in and they would say, ‘I felt good until I turned 40, or I felt good until I turned 50, or until I had that third kid, or until COVID.’”

– Marguerite Weston, MD, Director of Functional Medicine

Instead of labeling these moments as the start of multiple diagnoses, she pointed out that everything in our body works in tandem and with our hormones. Addressing this interconnectedness is key to managing stress.

Fortify Your Health With Small Habits & Routines

Dr. Weston’s practical approach to stress management focused on supporting adrenal glands, circadian rhythm and cortisol levels. She highlighted actionable steps such as optimizing sleep schedules, using light exposure to our advantage, avoiding late-night eating and pairing carbs with healthy proteins and fats.

She also advised being mindful of caffeine and alcohol consumption while exploring supportive supplements when necessary.

“I just encourage you to choose one or two things. Just one or two things to implement. At the end of the day, we just want to be better than we were a week ago!”

– Marguerite Weston, MD, Director of Functional Medicine

Stress Management Shouldn’t Be Stressful!

These straightforward yet effective strategies are designed to help individuals make meaningful changes without becoming overwhelmed. By taking small steps, Dr. Weston explained, we set ourselves in motion, making it easier to continue progressing toward a healthier and more balanced life.
